ASA NORTHWEST TOUR 2008 SEASON OPENER DRAWS NEARELLENSBURG, Washington -- The start of the ASA Aero Exhaust Northwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment 2008 season is scheduled for Saturday night March 29. The second year for the NWT under the ASA banner will resume a 23-year tradition of opening on Evergreen Speedway’s Monster .667-mile oval for 125-laps.

The Northwest’s foremost traveling stock car racing series will be joined at the season kick off by the Northwest’s premier asphalt open wheel series the ASA/NSRA Winged Sprint cars also their season opener.

The race has already drawn much interest by the Northwest’s best racers. Three states and two countries will be represented. Oregon, Idaho, Washington and Canadian drivers will be tested by the Northwest’s largest super oval.

Some of the drivers expected are 4-time NWT Champion Garrett Evans (E. Wenatchee, WA), 2-time NWT champions Kelly Tanner (Auburn, WA) and Gary Lewis (Monroe, WA). Pete Harding (Surrey, B.C.) a former NWT champion will be joined by his son Shane Harding twice a Super Stock champion at Evergreen Speedway. The 2007 ASANWT champion BJ Tidrick (Yakima, WA) will return to defend his title. Planning on running all season is John Dillon (Meridian, ID) another former NWT champion.

Brandon Riehl (Boring, OR) has won at Evergreen and is set to make a concerted effort to win the 2008 title. Joe Constance (Bellevue, WA) is set to make a return to tour racing. Third generation stock car driver Jay Sauls will start his third year of NWT racing following a strong 2007 season with a third in points finish.

Other NWT regulars that are expected to kick off the season are Matt Hall (Spokane, WA), Jason Fraser (Snohomish, WA) and Aaron Young (Independence, OR).

Some notable drivers expected include Kelly Mann (Monroe, WA), Doug Davidson (Monroe, WA), Tony Berry (Spokane, WA), Harold Raczynski (Snohomish, WA), Willy Thom (Dundee, OR) and Darrin Stordahl (Marysville, WA)

First time ASANWT competitors Kendall Thomas (Williams Lake, B.C.), Spence Catrell (Portland, OR), Alan Jewett (Longview, WA), Ken Sleveland (Spanaway, WA), Jill Lang (Lynnwood, WA) and James Mugge (Everett, WA),

With four weeks to go before the season starts, many more of the Northwest’s best are expected to enter the 125-lap kick-off.
