ALSC CARS TO COMPETE ON ALTAMONT HALF-MILE THROUGHOUT 2008ALTAMONT MOTORSPORTS PARK
Source: Altamont Motorsports Park Media Relations/sb
The ALSC cars, which are mainly 1960s – 1980s – type cars, have competed on the Altamont quarter-mile oval for many years. Before they were ALSC cars, they ran under the guise of the Super Stocks. A similar division of cars ran on the half-mile for many years as well. After a successful run on May 24th for the cars, drivers, teams, and officials have elected to move the division to the half-mile permanently. The half-mile will provide higher speeds, more racing room and racing lines, as well as more passing. Drivers who are interested in competing in this class on July 5th as part of the Tri-Holiday Classic must be aware of a few safety rule changes. ALSC cars will be required to have radios and all ALSC drivers will be required to wear a head & neck restraint such as HANS or Hutchens. Interest from All American Speedway and Madera Speedway drivers has been high, and these drivers are encouraged to visit www.altamontracing.com to view the 2008 ALSC rule book. A NASCAR license is required to compete at Altamont Motorsports Park in the ALSC class.
Points leader Sammy Solari will hope to continue his dominating performance in 2008 this Saturday, with Stockton’s Richard Harper closing in at just four points behind. See Also .: News Index | E-mail to a Friend Article posted by RacingWest.com staff on 07/01/2008. http://www.racingwest.com
