RAUDMAN ALL ABOUT ALTAMONT

REDDING, California -- Craig Raudman of Redding, Calif., enters Saturday's Flashco SRL Southwest Tour Series race at Altamont Raceway Park eyeing his first victory of the season. The former Southwest tour champion currently sits second in the point standings after three races heading into the 100-lap event that is part of the Tri-Holiday classic at the half-mile paved oval.

Raudman lurks just 13-points behind point leader and rival Jim Pettit II. Raudman would like nothing better than to return to championship form in round four of the shortened SRL schedule. “Racing at Altamont is a lot of fun,” Raudman stated. “This is a really neat event the track puts on and there should be some great racing in all divisions. The track conditions will be tough as the temperatures will be well over 100 degrees making the setup critical. You miss it by a little then you miss it by a lot.”

Raudman's last win at Altamont dates back to 1996 in the old Southwest Tour, but the track has gone through some major transformations since then. 'The track is wider and has two distinct racing grooves,' Raudman said. “With the changes made at the track in recent years it is a lot of fun to race. Even with the changes it always comes down to track position and who has the best tires at the end of the race. I suspect you will see the usual suspects up front and I plan on being in front of them at the end.'

More than 30 of the area’s best Late Model drivers will be on hand for the race and Raudman knows that qualifying will be a critical component to success. “The better you qualify, the less cars you have to pass,” Raudman said. “We found a problem with our motor and had it freshened since the last event (Raudman finished 3rd) so I know we have a more competitive car for this race. We have our ducks in a row and look to get back into winning form.'

Raudman has 163 combined (NASCAR and SRL) Southwest Tour starts claiming 17 victories, 31 quick time awards, 63 top five finishes and 94 top ten performances in a Southwest tour career going back to the early 1990’s.

Raudman drives a Strandwold Racing Chevrolet and is sponsored by Performance Electrical Company, Approved Memory, J&s Plastering, ERC Fuels, Redline Oil, Swendeman Hardware, Ringers Gloves, and NGK Spark Plugs.

The Flashco SRL Southwest Tour “100” is set to take the green flag at approximately 3:00pm PT.####
