RINGERS GLOVES RACING RECAP

BROWNSBURG, Indiana — Busy, busy, busy….and it’s only Monday! But, it is the week of the NHRA Mac Tools U.S. Nationals here in Indianapolis, so there is a lot of preparing to do before the big showdown for the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle held at O’Reilly Raceway Park on Saturday!

If you are coming out to the track, make sure you have the Ringers Glove Shack on your list of displays you must see. We have some awesome trackside specials on our brand new crew shoes and as always, we have our $10 trackside glove specials! Also, don’t forget to stop by the trailer on Saturday at 10 a.m. for an autograph session with the top eight riders who will race for the $25,000 check in the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle. The first 100 race fans will receive a commemorative Pro Bike Battle t-shirt.

Where to begin in racing activities from the weekend…let’s start with the IndyCar Series and the Firestone Indy Lights at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.

Andretti Green Racing added another podium finish to their resume for the 2008 season with the No. 11 Team 7-Eleven entry finishing third. His teammates in the No. 27 Formula Dream and No. 26 Blockbuster/STAR WARS: The Clone Wars entries finished 13th and 14th, respectively.

The drivers in AGR’s stable in the Firestone Indy Lights Series had double-header weekend with two events on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday in the Carneros 100, the No. 27 Automatic Fire Sprinklers entry picked up a runner-up finish in second; his teammate in the second Automatic Fire Sprinklers entry 17th. Both cars completed all 30 laps.

On Sunday, the No. 27 AFS/AGR Racing entry led the duo to the finish line again in seventh place; the No. 26 car finished 16th.

The Firestone Indy Lights Series has the weekend off, while the IndyCar Series heads to The Raceway at Belle Isle for the Detroit Grand Prix presented by Firestone.

The Andretti Green Racing ALMS team ventured to Mosport International Raceway in Bowmansville, Ontario, Canada for the Mobil 1 Grand Prix held on Sunday.

The AGR XM Satellite Radio Acura drove to a fourth-place LMP2 class finish and a sixth-place finish over in the race.

Another Ringers’ supporting team also competed in the Mobil 1 Grand Prix. The GT2 class two-car team of Tafel Racing scored two top-six finishes with the No. 71 Tafel/Bell Micro Ferrari in fourth and the No. 73 finished in sixth.

The ALMS teams will also head to The Raceway at Belle Isle in Detroit for their event.

All three NASCAR series headed to Thunder Valley and the Bristol Motor Speedway for their respective races, with action in the Craftsman Truck Series starting under the lights on Wednesday. Ringers’ supporting driver Brendan Gaughan led the supporting drivers/teams to the checkered in the O’Reilly 200 in the 13th position. The No. 07 and No. 08 teams of Green Light Racing finished 17th and 18th, respectively.

On Saturday night, the Penske Racing trio of Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch and Sam Hornish Jr., battled underneath the lights in the Sharpie 500. Newman and his No. 12 Alltel Dodge led the three to the finish at the end of the grueling 500-lap race with a top-10 finish in sixth. Busch drove his No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge to a 15th place finish and Hornish Jr.’s night took a turn for the worse after an accident on lap 216, however, he was able to finish the race in 37th.

Though Hornish Jr.’s night didn’t go so well on Saturday night, on Friday night in the Nationwide Series race, he drove the No. 12 Penske Truck Rental Dodge to a 14th-place finish.

Both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series venture to California Speedway for their events this weekend, while the Craftsman Truck Series has a weekend off and returns to action at Gateway International Raceway on September 6.

That’s the minute for this week! Plenty of U.S. Nationals action, including all the coverage of the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle, so stay tuned!
