GGRT AND MAYHEW PERSEVERED AT ALTAMONT

SAN FRANCISCO, Ca — GGRT and Mayhew never gave up Saturday night at Altamont. Hopes were high after practice knowing they were going to have a good car for the race. After qualifying 15th, GGRT and Mayhew knew they had their work cut out for them. Mayhew powered the Bay Bio Diesel Chevrolet into the top 10 in just 10 laps. Then disaster struck, right front flat.

This left Mayhew a lap down, but he didn’t give up. Mayhew kept the Bay Bio Diesel Chevrolet in a position to get the “Lucky Dog”, again, left rear flat. This kept Mayhew from getting the lucky dog and put him 2 laps down.

But, GGRT and Mayhew dug deep. By the halfway break Mayhew was back on the lead lap. With 100 laps to go, Mayhew knew if he could avoid a flat, he would be in contention for the win. After running 2nd and battling for lead, again, a bride’s maid at Altamont.

GGRT and Mayhew are proving they are a Championship caliber team. They are consistently running in the top 3. “We had such bad luck at the beginning of the year. We stopped, evaluated our weaknesses and went back to the basics and it proved beneficial”, said crew chief Steve Portenga.

Spotlight sponsor, Bay Bio Diesel's president, Pat O'Keefe, ran the #31 GGRT car. Pat was headed for the front in 11th position when another car made contact. The car suffered body damage and a flat tire. The Bay Bio Diesel finished a respectable 20th. and Pat had a blast piloting the Bay Bio Diesel #31.
