![]() DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — NASCAR has penalized David Hernen, crew chief, and Mike Grove, crew member, of the No. 1 team that competes in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, as a result of rules infractions Saturday at Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. Hernen was found to be in violation of Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing); Section 12-4-D (any member who threatens to do bodily harm to a NASCAR Official); Section 12-4-F (involved in an altercation with NASCAR Officials on pit road after the race had concluded); and Section 9-4-A (crew chief assumes responsibility for the actions of his team members) of the 2008 NASCAR rule book. Grove was found to be in violation of Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing); Section 12-4-D (any member who threatens to do bodily harm to a NASCAR Official); and Section 12-4-F (involved in an altercation with NASCAR Officials on pit road after the race had concluded) of the 2008 NASCAR rule book. The violations occurred following the race on Sept. 20. As a result, Hernen has been fined $500, suspended from the next NASCAR Canadian Tire Series event, suspended from NASCAR until Oct. 1, 2008, and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31, 2008.
