GOMEZ COMPLETES BANNER SEASON AT MVS

Jonathon Gomez capped off an outstanding Championship night at Magic Valley Speedway in his quest for dual Championships during the 2008 season. Gomez won the Super Stock Chase for the Championship with a dominating 14 main event wins in 16 starts during his sophmore season in the division. Gomez along with 2007 Champion Jerry McKean virtually ran side by side throughout the 6 races for the Chase." I love racing with Jerry he makes you work for everything you get, I could run side by side with him for 500 laps" Gomez commented after winning the Title.

Jonathon also gained the 2008 MVS Rookie of the Year Title for the Pepsi Premier Late Model series with a runner up finish in the Late Model Chase points system used by Magic Valley Speedway. Gomez started the 100 lap Championship main event well back in the field of 32 starters, by lap 60 he was battling with Former Track Champion Bruce Quale for the front spot going on to lead a number of laps before tire issues gave him a steady 3rd place finish. This podium finish along with one victory and multiple top 5 finishes gave the young driver the second spot in the Chase for the Championship at MVS.

For 2009 Jonathon plans to run a full Camping World West Series schedule along with the highly competitive Rocky Mountain Challenge Series. Winter plans include the 2009 World Series of Asphalt Racing at New Symrna Florida a breathtaking 9 races in 8 days along with a limited schedule at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway's Winter Blast in Blythe California. "I love the competition at I-10, Greg and the folks there take great care of the racers and we get outta the snow for a few weeks" Gomez commented on his winter plans. Jonathon would also like to take the time to thank the race fans for all the support during the 2008 season "you guys keep us going Thanks for everything"
