VICTORY CIRCLE “TEST N TUNE" AT TUCSON RACEWAY PARK – SEPTEMBER 20, 2008TUCSON RACEWAY PARK
Source: Tucson Raceway Park/Dan Ruth
![]() Under beautiful clear skies and temperatures in the 90’s competitors began showing up at the pit gate around two o’clock for the 3 to sundown Test N Tune. Drivers signed up to take to the oval that had been silent since July 5th. Last years Legend’s Champion, Suave Brachowski made quite a few laps in his new #29 Late Model along with Cassie Gannis in her #7, Blue Media Late Model. Jerry Thitchener tried numerous set ups on his #96 Late Model trying for that elusive 1/10 of a second. I saw Duane Hunt Jr. shaking down dad’s #17 Late Model and no less than four Bombers attended with two running laps at TRP for the first time. Young Carlton Peterson ran quite a few laps in his Legend Car and the Milburg boys ran long distance runs in their Bomber Lites preparing for the October 25th Enduro. When the sun went down it was now time for business. A great pot luck dinner was held in TRP tech with everything from Nancy Smith’s Southwestern Chili to Ray Johnson’s Ass Kickin, Ragin Cajun Chicken. Once everyone had filled their plates, we got down to the Victory Circle plan introduction. A PowerPoint presentation was projected up on the pit board for all to see with yours truly reviewing page by page the plan details. Every registered driver received a Victory Circle plan packet and 25 Victory Circle Plan brochures to use during their sales calls. A few notable questions arose and we tried our best to respond. Once question was “What happens if we have an event cancel due to weather or such”? Answer: The Victory Circle Plan consists of 14 events held over nine months and dates will always be rescheduled to meet that minimum. There were some that thought they should get their vested amount regardless of their ability to race. The bottom line is simply this: The Victory Circle program is the very first of it’s kind in the world of Motorsports and to say it is foolproof would be foolish. During the course of the plan, issues will come up from time to time and after gathering all of the facts, solutions will be created to make the plan work without missing a beat! Over the next few weeks we will gather the needed facts to make intelligent decisions on the implementation of the Victory Circle Points Fund programs so that all of our members will know how the proceeds will be distributed at season’s end. The most important task at hand right now is to get out and sell! We have had three weeks to develop prospects while awaiting the brochures and final plan details and now it’s time to get off the couch! As stated earlier, we need 50% of you 50% vested before committing to our first Victory Circle Event! That amounts to only 5 Late models, 3 Factory stocks, 2 Sport Compacts, 1 Modified, 2 bombers, 2 Bomber Lites and 2 Legends selling half of there available opportunities. At this time we have missed the September 27th Event opportunity and that brings us to October 11th as the next available date. As it stands now we have our Bomber Enduro scheduled for October 25th and our PIR Stars 100 Lap open comp event scheduled for November 5th and 6th both of which are special events and not part of our weekly series. Those of you that feel uneasy about the sales process please contact me at trptucson@aol.com to help get you on your way to Victory Circle! Victory is only a Sale away!
