BROWNSBURG, Indiana — The O’Reilly Mid-South Nationals have concluded and there are only three races left in the Countdown to One in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series championship run. Leaving Memphis, two Ringers’ racer landed in the Winner’s Circle, with one of them picking up his first win in over a year. Recently appointed Schumacher Racing rider Craig Treble scored his first win for his Albrecht’s Fast Track Suzuki team with a 6.985-second, 188.57 mph run after his opponent and Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle champion Eddie Krawiec’s Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson broke after he took the green light. Sunday’s win was Treble’s first victory since U.S. Nationals in 2007. Pro Stock racer Mike Edwards scored his second victory on the season after he defeated KB Racing’s Jason Line, whose Summit Racing Equipment GXP steered hard to the right after launching off the line. Edwards cruised onto a 6.702-second, 207.27 mph run. The point’s leader coming into Memphis (Schumacher, Wilkerson, Coughlin and Smith) maintain their leads heading into the Richmond event in two weeks. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series traveled to Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the Camping World 400 on Sunday. The Ringers’ supporting teams of Penske Racing fought handling issues throughout the 400-mile race, with Ryan Newman leading the trio to the finish line in the 16th position, even after a run-in with the turn two wall early in the race; his teammates Kurt Busch and Sam Hornish Jr., finished 31st and 33rd, respectively. The Penske trio will head to the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama this weekend for the AMP Energy 500. In California sprint car action over the weekend, Ringers’ supporter Jonathan Allard pulled double-duty in both 410 and 360 classes and collected a runner-up finish in the 410 class on Friday and a win in the 360 division on Saturday at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. That’s the minute for this week! I am going to enjoy a quiet weekend at home before heading to Richmond next weekend for the NHRA event at Virginia Motorsports Park.
