GRIDLEY, California — The highly anticipated return of the stars of the Westcar Late Model Series to All American Speedway will commence Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25, with the Ward Land Management & Development / Roseville Toyota 100. An impressive purse of $3500 to win and $300 to start, along with being a featured attraction during the NASCAR Camping World Series West program that weekend, should attract the top Western Late Model talent to the one-third mile asphalt oval. The $100 pre-entry deadline is this Saturday, October 18. After that all entries will be $125. The non-points special event, run under a combination of Altamont, Westcar, and All American Speedway officials, is open to any legal car from either group. Both the Altamont/Westcar and All American Speedway rule books will be honored at the prestigious race. Leading off the impressive entry list will be NHRA star Ron Capps, who announced his entry for Bill McAnally Racing on Wednesday. Champion drivers from Altamont, Westcar, and All American Speedway are expected in this field that should exceed 30 entrants. Recent Drive for Diversity participants Laura Hayes, Mackena Bell, and Jonathan Gomez are expected to compete. A $1000 bonus will be up for grabs if any of the top-four qualifiers elect to start at the rear and can win the race. This popular feature of many Late Model shows across the country will add an extra zest to the event. In addition, each driver that qualifies for the feature will be entered into a drawing to be held after the pit board meeting for a trip to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in Phoenix. The winner of the trip will receive roundtrip airfare for two, hotel, and two VIP garage passes. A rare two-day format will see time trials on Friday for the top 20 positions, with the remaining cars going into a 25 lap qualifying race to be held Saturday afternoon. Four cars will advance from the qualifying race into the 24 car / 100 lap feature. The Westcar Late Model Series, currently in its fourth season, began its run at All American Speedway back in 2005. The speedway hosted five points paying Westcar events that season. Altamont Raceway Park is a half-mile asphalt oval located just outside Tracy. Altamont Raceway Park General Manager and President Jeff Macey is the founder of the Westcar Late Model Series.
