IT'S GOING TO BE ANOTHER AFTERNOON OF EXCITING RACING AT THE WILLOW SPRINGS SPEEDWAY THIS SUNDAYWILLOW SPRINGS SPEEDWAY
Source: Dave Grayson
Stock Car Syndicate, hosted by promoters Nick Jennings and Jon Christensen, will be presenting round two of their winter racing series this Sunday, October 26th, at the Willow Springs Speedway. This extremely fast and well banked quarter mile oval is located within the mammoth Willow Springs International Motor Sports Park in Rosamond-California. Next Sunday's racing action will feature the Late Model, Super Street Stock, Pure Stock, Pro Fours, Legend, Bandolero and Figure Eight divisions. In Late Model Action Anthony Mainella will be looking for his second consecutive division win. At the October 5th race Mainella, representing the Richard Hooper Racing stable, won the feature flag to flag but all during the event had a rear view mirror filled with the presence of Gene Fife and Broc Murphy. However, when the green falls on the Late Model feature this Sunday, the entire field may discover that the competitive bar has been raised and that will be due to the anticipated presence of Chris Peedan. This Antelope Valley driver is a multi time Willow Springs Speedway track champion and, truth be known, even he has lost count of how many times his bright yellow Dodge has crossed under a checkered flag at this track. Peedan was in the pits watching the October 5th race and said his new car was undergoing the final phase of construction. That new car is expected to be ready and highly visible this Sunday. Super Street Stock teams are likely wondering if driver Gerrit Cromsigh will be on hand this Sunday looking for his second feature win. Cromsigh, a regular at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, brought a car to the October 5th Willow Springs race that was so fast that he came very close to lapping the entire field. Other Super Street teams expected to be on hand this Sunday include Jeff "Hibachi" Grill, Justin Good, Tom Wilson, Jay Slaughter and Andrew Murphy. In the Pure Street Stock ranks Jimmy Rouse Sr returned to victory lane October 5th and is expected to be looking for a return trip there. But it anticipated that he's going to have plenty of compeition from his own living room in the presence of Jimmy Rouse Jr. Also expected on hand, to turn some fast laps at Willow Springs, will be drivers Ron Davis, Gary Keaster and Justin Good who does double duty in both Street Stock divisions. At the October 5th race the Pro Fours were one of the major highlights of the afternoon. These full bodied stock cars, powered by four cylinder engines, literally flew around the Willow Springs quarter mile oval and their feature event provided some very intense action especially during the early laps when eventual race winner Eddie Secord and Pro Four veteran Don Minut ran hard side by side to get control of the race. Well known regional Pro Four drivers such as David Glidewell Jr, Keith Blomgren and Bryan Glidewell were also very much involved in this action. The word is now out about the Pro Four action at Willow Springs and hopefully it will entice their counterparts from the Orange Show Speedway to join the fun this Sunday. Stock Car Syndicate recognizes the importance of cultivating the presence of young people, both as drivers and fans, at the Willow Springs Speedway. That's why they were only too happy to incorporate the youngsters in their small, but very fast, Bandolero cars into their winter racing program. Al Simpson is expected too be on hand this Sunday to go after his second win of the season but can expect competition from Aaron Anderson and Mikey Lovas. Figure Eight racing is always a treat for racing fans and the Willow Springs Speedway plans to also enhance that program as an important part of their winter racing series. At the October 5th race the Pure Street Stock teams roared through the middle of the X with Ron Davis taking the checkered flag followed by Gary Keaster and Jay Slaughter. This Sunday morning the pit gates will open at 7am, qualifying rounds will be at 1130am with the racing getting underway at 1 pm. Admission, payable at the main gate of the complex, is $10 which also includes access to all of the action on all of the tracks at the Willow Springs Motor Sports Park. The Winter Racing Series at the Willow Springs Speedway is being presented by Stock Car Syndicate and PCM-Paul Copenhaver Motor Sports in conjunction with Tire Xpress, Quartz Hill Auto Parts, Welding Unlimited, Ron's Rear Ends, Hardy's Liquor of Quartz Hill, CMJ Racing, D&D Muffler, The Plumber, Industrial Metal Supply, California Stripes, Canyon Auto/RV Wash and Uncle Andy's Joint of Quartz Hill.
