Despite a cold chill in the air, the Littleton Community Playground Revitalization Project snowmobile race run in conjunction with the Tame the Track Snowmobile Races was considered a success. A spokesperson for the committee shared, ” The event exceeded our expectations and went very well for a chilly, windy day.”

“We had over 100 racers. We don’t have a count for spectators, but between the admissions, concessions, and awards supper, we raised $4200. We received the above check plus an added donation by Jere that totaled $3000.”

“We have expenses from the race but anticipate about $6000 more will be added for a total of about $13000 raised for the playground. All participants were very supportive of our project and generous with their donations.  Sam Dunbar in the photo, donated endless time securing sponsors, building the track, and finalizing all details with our committee and Jere. The day was a proud moment for Littleton, and it was great to see families out visiting, cheering, and enjoying life.”

Woodland Teenager wins four at Piscataquis Radar Runs
Downtown Dover Foxcroft was buzzing with the sounds of snowmobiles racing on the nearby Piscataquis River. The first radar runs by the Piscataquis Radar Run group are now in the books. With 56 riders and 80 different sleds the club was able to donate $2700 to the local snowmobile club and fire department.
Woodland’s Jesse Taggett with his Team OCD 2004 Arctic Cat F6 won four classes, the 600, 700, and 800 Stock and the 600 Improved classes. Taggett netted $800 in winnings.

NASCAR and LA Coliseum race starts the season strong

No matter what you thought about Ice Cube and halfway entertainment at the Clash held at the Los Angeles Coliseum, I think you would have to agree the race lived up to much of the pre-race hype. The work that went into preparing that stadium event had to be tremendous. Imagine hot topping that area and then, post-race, removing it for the next event.

The cream again ended at the top of the results at the conclusion of the 150 laps, however, there were some flashes of the under-dogs when Tyler Reddick led 50 plus laps and rookie Justin Haley ran laps at the front until he hit the wall taking him out of the race.

The 150-lap race on the 1/4-mile track was short and filled with some decent racing. I wish the end would have had more cars tightly bunched going for the win. Regardless, I think NASCAR got what they wanted, a new market with new fans and a good debut showing for the Next-Gen race car. What do you think?
