Snowmobile race series announces 2022 schedule

Episode 384

December 19, 2021

Veteran race promoter/race director announced, “Tame the Track Snowmobile Tour (TTTST) and our title series sponsor; NAPA Auto Parts: Coastal Auto Parts of Maine & Ossipee Auto Parts of New Hampshire will be offering the most diversified winter racing schedule since our organization started snowmobile racing back in 2016.”

“With the recent dissolving of longtime Rock Maple Racing Cross Country {RMR XC}, Tame the Track officials are trying to keep the sport alive by offering a three-race mini- series in the southern portion of the County. Race Director Humphrey has been co-hosting with RMR for the last 5 seasons.”

“Organizers will offer ten racing divisions at each of the three cross country events with reasonable registration fees for the average trail rider. Cross country courses generally are set up with a 4-5-mile trail for a racecourse, averaging anywhere from 5 miles up to 100+ miles for the experienced Pro Open racers.”

“Tame the Track Snowmobile Tour will also still offer the ongoing Vicious Vintage Championship Series Endurance Races for Vintage, Trail & Kids divisions. To conclude the 2022 winter racing season, TTT will also be hosting the traditional Fort Kent Hillclimb @ Lonesome Pines Trails.” Check the full schedule following the Mini Series information.

Local racer makes 5th trip to Indy PRI Show

Bob Alexander, Hall of Fame member and crew chief for Wyatt Alexander Racing (WAR) in Ellsworth made his fifth trip to the Performance Racing Industry Show held in Indianapolis, Indiana earlier this month. Accompanying Alexander was Bob Treadwell, Treadwell Racing.

When Tom Patsis lived in Ellsworth, Maine as a high school student, he worked part-time for Bob Alexander’s automotive repair business KB Automotive. Both maintained a connection through UNOH, Patsis as a student and Alexander as a recruiter. They have maintained that relationship through the years. “Great show,” said Alexander. “Got to meet up with some old friends and made some new connections with vendors. One highlight was attending the opening breakfast where Roger Penske was the keynote speaker. Lots of stories about his purchase of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the IndyCar Series.”

When asked if he was able to view the NASCAR Next-Gen chassis up close he replied, “Yes I did. It is pretty radical. There was a complete bare chassis and also a test car for Boris Said. That one was a road course car.”

Another driver UpNorth Motorsports will be following in 2021

Along with CORE Autosports Jon Bennett in IMSA, Kody Swanson in USAC Silver Crown, and Michael McDowell in NASCAR Cup on the national level, UpNorth Motorsports will continue to follow the career of fellow potato country (Payette, Idaho) racer Sting Ray Robb in Indy Lights competition.

In a report from Sebring racetrack, Andretti Autosports sources said. “The second day of Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires team testing at the race track that began life as Hendricks Army Airfield ended with a new driver topping the timesheet. Series returnee Sting Ray Robb, who made a move to Andretti Autosport in the offseason, was the quickest of the 13 drivers, turning a fast lap at 55.890 seconds.”

“During yesterday’s action on the 1.7-mile circuit Sebring International Raceway ‘short course,’ the top-six drivers were within a second of the best lap time; today, it was the top ten that ended the day with 0.5 seconds of leader Robb.”

“The one thing that didn’t change from the first day of Indy Lights testing was the even split between HMD Motorsports / Global Racing Group and Andretti Autosport among the top six.:

“With the 2020 Indy Pro 2000 champion leading the way, Andretti Autosport grabbed the top spot, followed within one-tenth of a second by fellow series veteran HMD Motorsports’ Danial Frost.”

It certainly looks like Sting Ray is off on a great start for the 2022 Indy Lights Series. Testing resumes after the first of the new year.

The most important event in history

Could it have been a sky like this on that cold night in Bethlehem when the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ was born? Hopefully you will take the time this Christmas season and contemplate what this means to you. God with us. (Capture 21 Photography)
