Historic Minardi day 2021… in pictures

It’s about time, finally. Walking in the paddock of the Imola Circuit, and browsing up and down in the pit lane, you could feel the desire of all those present to taste again the typical atmosphere of an event fed by the passion for motorsport. Real passion. The one that makes you love the ‘smell’ of fuel and lubricant. The sound of pneumatic screwdrivers in motion, of tools and the sound of engines warming up. The one that you can see in the eyes of the mechanics, who constantly “take care” and “polish” the cars, for the eyes of the public, but more likely to satisfy their desire.

The fifth edition of the Minardi Day – which I will tell you about in pictures – has, once again, given a lot to the people present, held back in the early hours of Saturday 28 August by bad weather, but who then found in the afternoon and the following Sunday the right setting to express their enthusiasm.

More than 50 years of history in the pits and on the track with cars ranging from the Cooper Maserati T51 of 1959 to the Toro Rosso STR03 with which Sebastian Vettel won his first Grand Prix in 2008, passing through the Minardi F1 PS04 -189 – M192 – M194 – PS04 of Alboreto, Martini, Bruni, Baumgartner and Salal; the Ferraris 312T – 126C4 – 312B2 – 312B3 – 643 chassis 128 – 639 chassis 106 – 412 T1 chassis 154, F93A of Alboreto, Alesi, Ickx and Merzario, Lauda, Regazzoni, Mansell and Berger; the Wolf WR7 of James Hunt; the Arrows A11- A21 – A22 of Verstappen, De La Rosa and Cheever; the Dallara Cosworth 190 of Pirro, De Cesaris and Morbidelli and the 1990 Lola-Alfa Romeo Indy. The list is really long.

The presence and track testing of splendid examples of modern-day technology and design such as the Dallara Stradali and the Pambuffetti prototype also had a strong impact on the public, both in terms of curiosity and imagination.
Many drivers and motorsport personalities made the event even more valuable, including engineer Aldo Costa, Alessandro

Nannini, Alex Caffi, Bruno Giacomelli, Davide Rigon, Emanuele Pirro, engineer Gabriele Tredozi, Gianni Morbidelli, Giovanni Lavaggi, Jarno Trulli, Luca Badoer, Mauro Forghieri, Nicola Larini, Paolo Barilla, Pierluigi Martini, Riccardo Patrese and Siegfried Stohr.
