The impact of technology on F1 racing

As technology expands into all aspects of our lives, its impact on Formula One (F1) racing is increasingly visible. With cutting-edge advancements in engineering and design, new cars have become ever more efficient and powerful, for better or worse.

For car enthusiasts everywhere, F1 has long been seen as a gold standard for vehicle performance and design – but how has modern technological development impacted this landscape? In this blog post, we will examine this question in-depth and explore how exactly technology is shaping the future of racing and influencing the F1 betting odds.

How Technology Has Changed

Over the past few decades, F1 racing has radically transformed thanks to technological advancements. Engineers now rely heavily on state-of-the-art design software to refine and improve everything from car aerodynamics to braking systems. At the same time, circuit designers use digital simulations to test and perfect everything from track layout to lighting conditions. As a result, fans and drivers more than ever appreciate the intensity and safety, with ever-increasing speeds and sleeker car designs providing unparalleled excitement.

Safety Features

F1 vehicles are some of the most secure on the planet, thanks to the recent advancements in technology that have allowed engineers to include many different safety features. These systems are designed to protect the driver from any potential harm in case of an accident and save lives. High-tech features such as impact-absorbing materials, roll cages, and advanced seatbelts are just a few of the groundbreaking technologies incorporated in modern F1 cars.

Additionally, various software-based safety features, such as telematics and sensors, have made the sport safer than ever before. Thanks to the incredible efforts of engineers and designers, F1 drivers can compete at the highest level while knowing that their safety is a top priority.

Deloitte and McLaren will also look to leverage GreenSpace Tech by Deloitte, a newly-launched offering that connects organisations with new and existing technologies and ecosystems that can help accelerate their decarbonisation efforts.

Honda to supply power units to the Aston Martin F1 Team starting the 2026 season

As 2026 F1 regulations will boost electrical power by three times, Honda enters F1 with a new partner. Honda will hone its e-motor and battery technologies through new F1 challenges and feed them back to mass production.

Today, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced plans to participate in the FIA Formula One World Championship (F1) in the 2026 season as a power unit supplier. Honda has agreed to enter into a works partnership with the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team to supply power units compliant with the new F1 power unit regulations, which will take effect in the 2026 season.

In pursuit of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, starting from the 2026 season, F1 will implement new regulations with an engine/electric motor maximum power output ratio of 50/50. This will represent a significant increase in the deployment of electrical power compared to the current ratio*2, while a 100% sustainable fuel is also required.

Specifically, the 2026 regulations require a reduction of engine output while tripling the energy recovery system’s (ERS) output, which recovers kinetic energy under certain situations, such as braking, and converts it into electrical energy. This will result in roughly equal power output between the engine and motor.

Working with the Title and Technical Partner PETRONAS, we are committed to a more sustainable future, driven by continuous technical innovation and pioneering the Team and Formula One transition to a Net Zero future.

As part of a sport which travels the world to go racing, we are very aware of the logistical impact of our business. Where we need to transport our people and freight, we are continuously looking for better ways to do so and aiming to be as sustainable as possible across every area of our transportation requirements.

New sustainability exclusions in the Financial Regulations of the sport were approved at the most recent F1 Commission, enabled by constructive cooperation between the FIA, Formula One and the ten teams. They have unlocked opportunities for innovation in sustainability that were previously in conflict with on-track performance. This initiative for a fully bio-fueled European season is our first of these projects.

Therefore, having a map of all the charging stations in your area is a good idea. You should also use the right type of charger for your specific vehicle; for example, you should use Tesla Supercharger if needed. Finally, while fast charging your electric car can be great, you shouldn’t always do this.

Make sure to practice proper maintenance

As mentioned, a big bonus of owning an electric vehicle is that electric vehicles don’t require as much maintenance as fuel vehicles.
